KANSAS CITY, Mo. —

Workers installed scaffolding in front of Union Station Monday for Kansas City’s biggest party in years.

Crews started working on the official stage and video boards for the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl rally just hours after the Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV.

Forty workers unloaded four tractor-trailers full of scaffolding to build the stage right beneath three Chiefs banners hanging on Union Station, announcing the team as the Super Bowl champions.

"People don’t realize the sheer magnitude of work that goes into that," said Jeremy Josephson, owner of Rock City Staging.

Josephson's company was hired by Kansas City-based production company DSS to install staging in front of Union Station and other points near the parade route.

"We’re excited to be here," Josephson said.

The Chiefs' Super Bowl parade is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. A rally will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Union Station.

Parade organizers are expected to announce details at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Workers at the National World War I Museum and Memorial are preparing for massive crowds.

"Dozens of organizations have been putting plans into place for weeks," said Mike Vietti, spokesman for the museum.

The museum will open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, with special $10 tickets for admission.

"If the weather forecast is a chilly as they’re making it sound, we’ll be a place where people can come in, warm up, we’ll have plenty of food for people," Vietti said.

The KC Streetcar announced it would shut down service on Wednesday during the parade.

KC Streetcar service will conclude as scheduled Tuesday evening. Service will not resume until safe to do so after the parade, the streetcar authority said in a news release.

Ride KC has also announced significant schedule and route changes.
