A New Hampshire woman overcame adversity to emerge victorious at the Walt Disney World Marathon on Sunday in Florida.

Katherine Cargiulo, 43, finished with a time of 3 hours and 13 seconds.

According to Disney, Cargiulo broke her back during a triathlon just seven months ago, and running became part of her recovery.

“Just to be running in a race is a dream come true,’’ Cargiulo said. “This place is magical.’’

Cargiulo finished minutes ahead of second-place finisher Jamie Weglarz (3:04:44), of Fort Myers, Florida.
