NFL running back Josh Jacobs arrested in domestic violence investigation
Police near Green Bay arrested Packers running back Josh Jacobs Tuesday as part of a domestic violence investigation, records show.
According to a brief statement from Hobart-Lawrence Police Chief Michael Renkas, officers responded to a disturbance just after 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 23. The statement did not detail the specific allegations against Jacobs, but it listed the charges investigators are seeking from the Brown County District Attorney:
- Battery – domestic abuse
- Criminal damage to property – domestic abuse
- Disorderly conduct – domestic abuse
- Strangulation and suffocation
- Intimidation of a victim
"Josh vehemently denies the allegations, and this matter is in the early stages of investigation with important evidence that has not yet been made public. We ask for fairness and restraint while the judicial process takes its course," attorneys David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Clarence Duchac said in a joint statement on behalf of the tailback.
In their own statement about the arrest, a Packers spokesperson said, "We are aware of the matter involving Josh Jacobs. As it is an ongoing legal situation, we will withhold further comment."
According to jail records, Jacobs was being held without bond and was still in custody Tuesday night.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
