Prairie Village flies England's flag as they prepares for showdown with Argentina
It's not every day the English flag flies over a city hall in the State of Kansas.
With England just one win away from the World Cup final, Prairie Village is showing its support for its temporary hometown team.
The city raised the St. George's Cross outside City Hall this week as England prepares to face defending champion Argentina in Wednesday's World Cup semifinal in Atlanta.
"Flying the St. George's Cross at City Hall this week to recognize Team England's run to the FIFA World Cup semifinals," the city wrote on social media. "Congratulations to our temporary hometown team, and good luck in the next match!"
England has called Prairie Village home throughout the tournament, staying at the Inn at Meadowbrook while training nearby at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City, Missouri.
The Three Lions advanced to the semifinals after defeating Norway 2-1 in extra time Saturday.
Argentina also needed extra time to beat Switzerland 3-1 at Arrowhead Stadium.
Wednesday's semifinal guarantees one of Kansas City's adopted teams will play for the World Cup championship.
Argentina trained in Kansas City, Kansas, and stayed in Kansas City, Missouri.
