Do you remember the excitement of the first day of school?

A new outfit. A new backpack. Fresh school supplies. The confidence of a brand-new beginning.

For many children in foster care, that experience is very different.

They're often removed from unsafe homes with little more than the clothes they're wearing.

Many have never had the chance to pick out a new outfit for school.

This month, you can help change that.

We are proud to support KVC Health Systems' back-to-school drive through our annual Coffee for a Cause campaign.

Every Wednesday morning, the KMBC 9 First News team will be at a different local coffee shop from 8-9 a.m.

Stop by and get a free cup of coffee on us.

While you're there, we hope you'll make a donation to KMBC 9 Cares for Kids.

Every $50 gives a child in foster care a shopping trip to buy new school clothes.

Can't make it? You can still donate here.

Watch First News every week for our next Coffee for a Cause location.

Together, we can help give every child and exciting first day of school.
