Early morning showers could impact morning commute Thursday in Kansas City metro
Kansas City is currently on the cooler side of a frontal system that is draped over the region.
Farther north toward St. Joseph is even cooler; traveling south it is much steamier. Along Interstate 70, we're splitting the difference.
Showers and storms pop up Wednesday evening and last through the night.
These showers could continue through Thursday morning's commute, which is why Thursday is a First Alert Weather Impact Day. Highs on Thursday will reach the lower 80s.
Then, the front snakes back to the north, placing us back on the warmer side.
Friday's highs will reach the upper 80s with an early chance for rain and storms before a hotter afternoon.
We'll dry out over the weekend with highs in the lower 90s.
Chances for storms return later next week.
