Junior Motorsports carries momentum into Iowa as NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series returns

Following a dominant performance at Indianapolis, Junior Motorsports heads to Iowa Speedway with Carson Kvapil fresh off his first victory and Sam Mayer chasing a third straight win at the short track.

NEWTON, Iowa —

After a weekend off, The NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series returns to action with a trip to Iowa Speedway, where one team arrives with all the momentum.

Junior Motorsports put together a statement performance at Indianapolis, sweeping the top four finishing positions. Carson Kvapil led the charge, earning his first series victory after holding off teammate Justin Allgaier in the closing laps. Ross Chastain, filling in for the organization, also finished near the front as JRM dominated one of the season's marquee races.

That momentum now shifts to Iowa, a track that has belonged to Sam Mayer in recent years.

Mayer has won the last two races at Iowa Speedway and will be looking to make it three straight victories at the short track. His past success makes him one of the favorites as the series resumes its schedule following the off weekend.

The parity across the series has also been one of this season's biggest storylines. Through the opening portion of the 2026 campaign, 12 different drivers have reached Victory Lane, leaving the door open for another new winner—or another Iowa celebration for Mayer.

Big Machine Racing driver Dr. Patrick Staropoli is coming off a 23rd-place finish at Indianapolis after starting 18th. BMR is a promotional partner with KCWE this season.
