KMBC Editorial: Stuff the Bus helps 700 Kansas City families with back-to-school supplies
There is something powerful about seeing a child open a backpack filled with the supplies they need.
Even more powerful is knowing a neighbor made that possible.
For the third year, KMBC 9 Cares for Kids teamed up with Operation Breakthrough, First Student and Hy-Vee for Stuff the Bus.
The result: five large bins of donations, more than $2,000 collected and enough supplies to help approximately 700 families start the school year prepared.
The most meaningful moment may have come when children helped unload the bus themselves.
They got to see firsthand just how much their community cares.
That is what your generosity provides: not just supplies, but confidence, dignity and the feeling that a child belongs.
To everyone who donated, thank you.
And if you haven’t given, there is still time to donate money for back-to-school clothing for local children in foster care.

Thank you for helping Kansas City kids begin the school year ready to succeed.
