KANSAS CITY, Mo. —

Kansas City has two more hot and humid days to get through before some relief arrives this weekend.

Friday and Saturday are weather impact days, with highs reaching the mid-90s and heat index values climbing above 100 degrees.

Some sunshine will break through by midday Friday, helping temperatures climb quickly. Kansas City should reach around 89 degrees by noon before topping out near 94 during the afternoon.

With plenty of moisture in the air, it will feel even hotter. Heat index values will climb above 100 degrees during the afternoon.

The heat and humidity could also help another round of spotty thunderstorms develop late Friday afternoon and into the evening.

Saturday brings more of the same, with partly sunny skies and a high around 94 degrees. A spotty shower or thunderstorm will be possible, particularly across northern Missouri and northern Kansas.

Anyone heading to Arrowhead Stadium for the Kansas City Chiefs' preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams should prepare for the heat.

Temperatures will be around 93 degrees during tailgating and in the mid-90s around kickoff, with the heat index approaching 105 degrees.

A cold front finally arrives Sunday, bringing temperatures closer to normal for the middle of August.

Sunday's high will fall into the upper 80s, with a low chance for a few thunderstorms as the front moves through.

The cooler weather continues Monday, with temperatures starting near 70 degrees before reaching the mid-80s during the afternoon.

Highs will then settle around 90 degrees for much of next week, with additional low chances for showers and thunderstorms Wednesday and Thursday.
