WEATHER BLOG: Overnight thunderstorms could bring damaging wind gusts to Kansas City, brief tornado risk remains
KANSAS CITY, Mo. —

Today is a First Alert Weather Impact Day.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected overnight, and some of the stronger storms may produce damaging wind gusts. Isolated large hail is also possible, though less likely. A brief tornado cannot be entirely ruled out, but thunderstorms quickly merging into clusters and line segments will reduce the tornado risk.

Keep in mind that most thunderstorms tonight will not produce severe weather—only a few may become severe.

The most likely time for severe weather will be from 9 p.m. tonight through 4 a.m. Wednesday, so the odds favor getting the Royals game in this evening without a rain or thunderstorm delay.

Nevertheless, if you are going to the game, please make sure you have the KMBC app downloaded on your smartphone so you can receive weather alerts.
