WEATHER BLOG: Early morning showers Monday will give way to sunshine and a comfortable afternoon
Today is a First Alert Weather Impact Day due to the possibility of isolated early-morning rain showers, though significant delays to the morning commute or back-to-school routines are unlikely. Mostly cloudy skies during this period will give way to more sunshine and comfortable afternoon temperatures in the lower 80s.
The next chance for isolated light rain showers will be Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning, but again, significant impacts on your morning routine are unlikely. A cool front sweeping through Wednesday will shift winds to the north, ushering in drier, almost fall-like air for the remainder of the week.
The drier air, combined with a greater chance of clear skies Thursday night, should create excellent viewing conditions for a partial lunar eclipse. The eclipse will peak in the Kansas City sky at 11:12 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2026, and will be safe to view with the naked eye.
