Shawnee's Jammin' on the Green fills the air with live jazz and swing
The Shawnee Town 1929 Museum hosted a free concert series Wednesday night, featuring live jazz, swing, and jump blues performed by Annalee and the Lucky So and So’s.
Some attendees attended the event for the first time.
"I'm with my friend Sharon Bowers and we wanted to listen to some good music. All the different eras," Margie Dattel of Leawood said.
Others were regular visitors to the concert series.
"It's really nice and shady. It's just an awesome place to be. Music is good. You can hang out for a nice date. Eat some food. Drink some wine or whatever," Bob Wald of Shawnee said.
The event attracted people of all ages, offering a chance to enjoy music spanning decades.
A local nonprofit dance group, KC Swingout, made the event a community affair by inviting their entire group.
"And we love dancing to live jazz music. So we told our entire community where we are going to be at this Wednesday night and we all showed up," Ben Todd of KC Swingout said.
The old-school music created new memories for everyone in attendance.
