Owen Wolff and Andre Luiz introduced as Sporting Kansas City’s newest players
Sporting Kansas City sits at the bottom of the Western Conference with four wins and 13 losses, but General Manager David Lee says his plan to rebuild the team hasn't changed.
During the current transfer window, Sporting Kansas City made two major additions.
The club acquired 21-year-old midfielder Owen Wolff from Austin FC for $4.5 million, plus potential incentives.
Wolff, the son of Sporting legend Josh Wolff, is coming off a breakout season with seven goals and 12 assists.
Sporting also completed a club-record transfer for Andre Luiz, 24.
The Designated Player arrives after a strong season in Europe, where he recorded seven goals and six assists with Portugal's Rio Ave.
“From the day I arrived to today, the destination and where we’re going has not changed one drop,” Lee said. “We need this team to compete for trophies and deliver a product on the pitch that our fans can be proud of.”
Both players are expected to make an impact for the team, though it's unclear whether they'll be ready for Saturday's match.
