Pleasant Hill event becomes heartfelt tribute to Dolly Parton
A night of food, shopping and music in downtown Pleasant Hill became a heartfelt tribute to Dolly Parton following the country music legend’s death this week.
More than 300 people attended Thursday’s Downtown Dolly event, with many dressing like the singer.
Organizers considered changing their plans after Parton’s death but decided the show should go on.
“It’s just a bittersweet night,” said Lisa Hoffman, owner of Willow Boutique. “We’re having fun. We’re honoring her.”
The event featured Parton’s music, local vendors, food and drinks. Fans shared memories of her songs, generosity and lasting influence across generations.
“She is such an inspiration to everybody,” attendee Vivian said. “She loved everybody.”
Organizers said they hope Downtown Dolly will become an annual event.
