Newly crowned Miss USA is the first mom to hold the title
There's a newly crowned Miss USA, and she's made competition history on multiple fronts.
Justus Kelley, who represents Virginia, won the pageant title Thursday night.
The 31-year-old is the first mother and the first married woman with the Miss USA title in the competition's 75-year history.
"This opportunity means the world to me, and not only are we celebrating the 75th anniversary – but we made history tonight," she said in a Miss USA video posted to social media. "I'm the first married woman, first mom, and first woman in her 30s. So it's a great night."
The organization changed its rules in 2023, ending an age cap and allowing mothers to compete.
Kelley also takes home a prize package valued at more than $685,000. That includes a $150,000 salary, a Range Rover, and a $30,000 wardrobe, PEOPLE reported.
