Brittany Foster
First Alert MeteorologistBrittany Foster joined the First Alert Weather team in January 2025. You can watch her forecasts on KMBC at 5 a.m. and between 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. during the weekend.
Brittany grew up in Overland Park, Kansas, and received her bachelor’s degree in Atmospheric Science and minor in Journalism at the University of Kansas. To gain experience while in college, Brittany worked at News-Press NOW in St. Joseph, Missouri. After graduation, she moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, and worked at KLKN-TV for two years. She covered a variety of weather, including the early stages of the Aug. 10, 2020, derecho, and met her husband, Nathan, who was the morning anchor.
Wanting to live closer to home, Brittany then moved to Wichita, Kansas, where she worked at KAKE-TV for 2 1/2 years. While in Wichita, she covered large dust storms, record heat, numerous tornadoes, storms that dropped baseball-sized hail, a historic drought and several rounds of snow. She was also given the opportunity to meet community members while covering events and doing school talks.
Brittany and her husband enjoy watching movies, fishing, kayaking, shopping local and being "pawrents" to their three dogs. She is thrilled to be back home and honored to work at the station she grew up watching.
